What is MAP?
The Manufacturing Alliance of Philadelphia is a trade organization created to give voice to the owners and employees of this important sector of Philadelphia’s economy. The Alliance addresses issues of policy, economic development, job training and other topics relevant to the growth and economic well being of the industry. Its members are manufacturing and allied industry groups from within the City of Philadelphia who work in collaboration with government and other agencies to resolve challenges that might harm the sector and the City at large.

Assisted 4 manufacturerms in finding over $67,000 in grant money for training in supervisory, lean, and other training programs.

Helped 4 companies find available industrial space so they could expand their operations.

Helped 3 companies navigate the City bidding process for new contracts and connected them with the appropriate people.

Found 6 new customers for 3 companies, resulting in a total of $273,151 in new sales.

Renegotiated incorrect bills with the water department for 3 companies, resulting a total savings of over $73,000.

Helped 2 companies find new markets in which to sell their products.

Made introductions for 2 companies to their city council person to resolve issues.

Helped 6 companies resolve L & I disputes.

Negotiated a rescheduling of Department of Agriculture inspections to prevent a production shutdown saving the company in over 40,000 in lost production costs.

Connected a MAP member with the City Traffic Police Division to allow them to close their street to replace their roof, resulting in a much faster rehab of their building and several thousands of dollars in savings.

Connected 7 Manufacturers with the Philadelphia school districts to organize plant tours for students to promote manufacturing careers.

Found a reimbursement grant ($15,000) for a manufacturerms cost of training 25 employees in leadership training.

Assisted 2 companies receive energy audits of their buildings to identify ways to cut their energy costs and improve energy effciency.

Helped 4 companies receive over $30,000 each in job training grants.

Filled 43 positions for 16 companies looking for new employees.

Found new positions for 18 workers laid off.
